Mihael Roškar

Born in Ptuj, bass-baritone Mihael Roškar embarked on his musical journey by learning to play the clarinet at the Karol Pahor Music School under the mentorship of professors Damijan Kolarič and Rudi Toplak. He continued his clarinet studies with Professor Kolarič in the artistic high school program at the Maribor Music and Ballet Conservatorium. Roškar further refined his clarinet skills at a summer school led by Mag. Mate Bekavac. After completing high school, he enrolled in the music education program at the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Education. During this period, he received vocal training from Professor Olga Gracelj and learned vocal techniques from Professor Marjan Trček. He also studied clarinet and saxophone under the guidance of Professor Slavko Kovačič. His graduation thesis focused on the Irish (tin) whistle under the mentorship of Professor Cveto Kobal.

For several years, Roškar was a member of the APZ Ptuj and the Vocal Ensemble Musica. At the Musica Singing School, he further developed his vocal skills under the guidance of Professor Robert Feguš. He attended various courses and training sessions, including vocal expression workshops with Dr. Anne Nacher and a choral seminar led by Dr. Brady R. Allred.

Between 2016 and 2021, Roškar participated in several productions by Teatar III, the youth theater DPD Svoboda Ptuj, and the Ecipeci Creative Theater. In 2016, he took over the leadership of the Men’s Chamber Choir Ptuj and, starting from 2019, he has been a founding member of the Opus 6 vocal group.

In 2013, Roškar made his debut in the opera Aida at the Slovene National Theatre Maribor. He became a regular member of the Opera Choir at the Slovene National Theatre Maribor in 2022 and, in the same year, made his solo debut by assuming the role of the helmsman in the opera La Gioconda.
