The spring ballet evening with four choreographies by Edward Clug, three of which were created for the Nederlands Dans Theatre (NDT), could be described as virtuosic and anthological in both technical and aesthetic terms, above all because of the groundbreaking artistic visions of the human body and movement that will unfold on the stage of the Maribor Ballet. A completely different, perhaps more intimate expressive aspect of the choreographies is reflected in the exploration of certain existential themes and in the atmosphere created by music writers such as Milko Lazar and the music group Radiohead. To this music, which is capable of evoking certain energies and psychological states, Clug’s unique choreographic world unfolds in the sequence of the choreographies Proof, Bloom, mutual comfort and Cluster. This configuration of dance creations will be presented to Slovenian audiences for the first time in the interpretation of the Maribor Ballet Ensemble. Clug’s imagination and the magical world of hypnotic dreams also reveal an important socio-critical note, as the creator endeavours to remain open to all conceivable phenomena and, above all, to everything human in his exploration of various existential and social themes.
